Dhallywood’s legendary actor Manna, also known as Syed Mohammad Aslam Talukder, left the world a decade and a half ago after suffering from a heart attack. Before his death, Manna worked on a movie titled ‘Jibon Jontrona’. At that time, however, it was titled ‘Leelamanthan’. Later, due to the objection of the censor board, the name of this movie based on the Great Liberation War was changed.

After Manna’s death, the film was tried to be released several times but did not see the light due to various complications. However, there is good news for Manna fans – the movie is releasing and it will release on December 15 this year. Manna’s last movie is hitting the theaters on the occasion of Victory Day, confirmed Khorshed Alam Khosru, producer of the film.

“This is a movie about the story of the War of Liberation, and we want to release it keeping in mind the special day of the War of Liberation. If everything goes well, the movie will be released on December 15,” he said.Explaining the reason for releasing the film so long after the death of actor Manna, Khosru said, “We started working on the film with the name ‘Leelamanthan’. I submitted to the censor in 2011 under that name. The Censor Board’s objection to the name delayed the clearance. The movie could not be released due to various complications. The release was also delayed due to COVID. We think the appeal of the starry movie has also waned a lot at this time. Even if the movie is released, there may be a fear of loss. We still want to release it. Manna’s fans and audience are waiting for the movie.”

Despite being submitted to the censors in 2011, the film got clearance a decade later in 2021. The director of the film Zahid Hossain said that “Manna could not finish the last scene and dubbing work of the movie. Before that, he left the world forever. Later, his martyrdom in a grenade attack was staged using dummies. Manna’s part was partially dubbed by actor Ratin”.

‘Jibon Jontrona’ is based on the story of a group of sex workers during the Liberation War who took a stand for the Liberation War. Moushumi, Popy, Shahnoor, Mukti, Dighi, Bapparaj, Aliraj, Anwara, Shahidul Alam Sachchu, Misa Sawdagar and many others starred in it.
